Calling all vintage-lovers!

One of the best things about living in Winchester is the variety of markets and different shopping experiences on offer, and a recent addition to the fashion calendar never fails to give me something to spend my money on!

The Vintage Fair visits Winchester Guildhall once every few months and is a great, relaxing way to spend a Sunday for only £2 entry (£1 for students!).

The 40 traders come from across the country, and people from all over Hampshire flock to immerse themselves in the buzz. Not only are there racks upon racks of interesting and unique clothes to browse, but the fair also brings with it a ‘beauty parlour’ where you can have your hair and make-up done vintage-style, for a bit of extra pampering!

The last fair that I was able to attend, I picked up an armful of goodies that have proven essential in my winter wardrobe.

The scarf which I snatched up for only £4 is great for livening up all of my navy and black-based outfits (of which I have many). And after much experimentation, I have discovered there are upwards of 12 different ways to wear a scarf! My favourite at the moment is to tie it around the top of a waisted skirt, belt-style.

The bag has proven invaluable on nights out especially given the inside zip pocket and has definitely earned me back the £7 that I paid for it!

But by far the best investment is the cardigan; after first having it dry-cleaned (perhaps slightly over the top) I have worn it all winter. It layers well and provides so much warmth that even Winchester’s windy hills can be withstood. And the best bit? It was only £10!

The Vintage Fair is a great place to spruce up your wardrobe for really very little money. And cavorting around it with your friends is a great way to spend an afternoon! My only warning is; if you don’t like crowds, wait until around 4 when the event is winding down. But if bagging a bargain is the name of the game, you won’t want to wait that long!
