Sleeping Babies

For Claire Donovan-Held, Sleeping Babies was a labour of love. Her career in advertising seemed to be over when she had children, but then she found another way to be creative when they were napping; create vintage-inspired gems from unwanted items. Now the children are in school, and she is still going strong after taking an upholstery course which has meant she can expand the business even further to cover chairs and stools in vintage fabric, a great way to cheer up your home. After starting with a small stall in Sussex, selling products such as hand-made bunting and cushions, she now has a stall at Winchester market and does other fairs including Spitalfeilds and Winchester Vintage Fair. She sources furniture to undergo a special make-over from dumps and car-boot sales and hunts out fabrics from all over the world; last week, she even visited the Big Apple to pick out vintage fabrics!
